“Welcome to the circle. One more at the heart. With this final card, your meeting will start,” creepy voices chant in the first trailer for Tarot (fka Horroscope), a new supernatural horror pic from Screen Gems and Alloy Entertainment out in theaters May 10th.
“Follow one rule to stay out of danger,” the voices continue, “you’re never to deal with the deck of a stranger. The Hermit, Magician, High Priestess or Death? Whose face will you see when you take your last breath?”
Written and directed by Spenser Cohen & Anna Halberg, Tarot sees a group of friends recklessly violate the sacred rule of Tarot readings — never use someone else’s deck — unknowingly unleashing an unspeakable evil trapped within the cursed cards. One by one, they come face to face with fate and end up in a race against death to escape the future foretold in their readings.
Starring Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika, Jacob Batalon and Larsen Thompson, the film’s producers are Leslie Morgenstein, Elysa Koplovitz Dutton and Scott Glassgold. Andrew Pfeffer, Scott Strauss, Halberg and Cohen served as executive producers of the pic, which opens against 20th’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, as well as Back to Black, the Amy Winehouse biopic from Focus Features.
