Earlier this year, Insight Editions announced an officially licensed Ghostbusters Tarot Deck (PRE-ORDER NOW), with today’s update providing a first look at the 78-card set.
Being based on the Ghostbusters films, fans can expect to see some familiar faces, as Egon, Peter, Ray, and Winston will be joined by the franchise’s most ghastly ghouls, among them Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and the Library Ghost, leading your tarot practice, with the cards illustrated by artist Ben Turner.
As part of this preview, we have been given a glimpse at the overall art style and the playful reveal of the Suit of Marshmallows and the Suit of Traps, with the deck including both Major and Minor Arcana. A bumbling Peter, holding a bottle of brandy, a nod to the scene that followed the Ghostbusters’ expulsion from Columbia University, acts as The Fool, while Walter Peck delivers Judgment, and Ghostbusters II’s Baby Oscar is The World.
Where there’s food, you’re likely to find Slimer, as the gelatinous green blob adorns the VIII of Marshmallows. The Library Ghost serves as the Queen of Streams, a Terror Dog-formed Zuul is The High Priestess, and Gozer’s chosen form, a fiery take on the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, is The Devil.
The Ghostbusters Tarot Deck (PRE-ORDER NOW) will arrive inside a deluxe gift box and, for those new to tarot, includes a 128-page guidebook written by Amy Chase, breaking down each card’s meaning and overview.
