‘It looks like a tarot reader’s tablecloth,’ people tear into guest’s dress for formal wedding their ‘cat would love’
A WEDDING guest’s pricey dress looks more like home decor than formalwear, as far as some Redditors are concerned.
One person said the dress looked like a tarot reader’s tablecloth, while another called it a style her cat would love.

A Reddit user shared her concerns about her choice for an indoor spring wedding with a formal/cocktail dress code.
She posted her inquiry in the popular Reddit group Wedding Attire Approval, where “people come to ask if an outfit for an upcoming wedding is appropriate.”
She also included a photo of the fringed, one-shoulder velvet yellow dress with a brown floral pattern on it.
She admitted in the caption that she was unsure of wedding colors, “although the invite was white and navy blue.”

It was a “confusing” dress code for her, but she assumed most people would be in cocktail attire.
“I’m thinking most people will be cocktail [attire] since other weddings I’ve been to for this group of people are more casual than formal. Hard to say though,” she wrote in a comment.
She was looking forward to wearing the Farm Rio Asymmetric Dress, which sold at Net-A-Porter for $185.
Not everyone was convinced that it was the best wardrobe choice for the special occasion.
“Cocktail yes. Formal it really depends on what the person’s definition of ‘formal’ is. It’s definitely not black tie though,” a Reddit user said.
“I LOVE this dress but so would my cat,” another added.
The pattern reminded many of them of home decor and furniture.
“This is not a spring dress. sorry. Also, it’s giving major tarot card reader vibes. Or tarot card reader’s tablecloth. Keep looking!” one commented.
“This looks like a rug or a curtain. I can’t pick which one,” another said.
“I like this dress in theory, but unfortunately it’s the same pattern as a couch my grandma had, and I can’t get past it,” another wrote.
